MURMELN UM SCHIFFLAND (UK Tour)
Murmeln Um Schiffland is the gorgeous new work by Murmeln, aka multi-instrumentalist and award-winning composer and writer Ben Osborn. This exclusive debut EP under a new name signals abreakthrough moment for this prolific but elusive artist. Murmeln um Schiffland is simultaneously released as a book of poems and drawings by Moot Press, and a five-track audio download on Berlin’s WANDA Portal. The EP is produced by Berlin artist yr lovely dead moon and mastered by cult songwriter-producer Emperor X.
“Murmeln’s vast history of composition has led him to a subtle sonic blend of electro-acoustic, classical and slacker folk. Haiku and Tanka guide the listener through a dreamlike landscape of modern day archetypes, between the lines and off the page.” – WANDA
“The text of Murmeln um Schiffland drifts tide-like between the connected poles of journal and dream-narrative, or back and forth along a route of passage between poem – lyric – song.” – Moot Press
ROWAN EVANS – THE LAST VERSES OF BECCÁN
A new text + performance work in development with bilingual poetry, field recordings and sound composition exploring hermitage, sea-exile and language hybridity. The project is an extended engagement with the 7th-century Gaelic poet Beccán mac Luigdech, a monk of Iona and a hermit on Rum, with field recordings made in the inner Hebrides.
BETHANY ROBERTS – HANDS OF THE HERON (UK Tour)
Hands of the Heron is a fledgling folk collective from Bristol who draw influence from diverse sources such as Fleet Foxes, Joni Mitchell, This Is The Kit and Gustav Holst. Their songcraft is inquisitive and intuitive, capturing moments of high emotion and distilling them into vivid, memorable melodies, weaving tales of love, loss and regeneration, with mandolin and harmony vocals at the core, accompanied by accordion, cello, double bass, tabla and flute.
Gospel/Folk Noir from the Berlin based, English born multi-instrumentalist. Part of Brighton’s Willkommen Collective, and has played with the Sons of Noel and Adrian, Mary Hampton, Garland Hearse (a renaissance madrigal group) and Gamelan Gita Asmara.
